Money, Currencies, Credit Cards and Banks in Montenegro
:: Editor Notes: The Montenegrin currency is Euro (EUR) (€) as a means of payment in its territory.
The exchange of other foreign currencies is carried out at the counters of business banks and currency exchange offices. Foreign citizens can bring into Montenegro an unlimited amount of foreign currency which has to be declared when entering the country. You are allowed to take out of Montenegro foreign currencies amounthing to not more than 1 000 € unless you have declared more money at customs entering Montenegro. Currencies (US $, Euros and ohters) can be exchanged at banks, exchange offices, post offices and mostly at tourist agencies, hotels or camping grounds. Banking opening hours (depending on bank) are between 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday to Friday. Saturdays banks are open until 1 p.m. The most widespread cards are VISA, Master, Maestro and DINERS by means of which it is possible to carry out all kinds of monetary transactions. Credit cards: Most hotels, restaurants and shops accept credit cards (American Express, Diners Club, VisaElectron/Mastercard, Visa, Sport Card International). ATM Cash teller machines are usable like in central Europe or US.
