:: Editor Notes: Montenegro is really worth to cruise by boat. The Montenegrin Adriatic coastline is a paradise for international skippers with fantastic mediterranean locations like the Bay of Kotor, Budva, and the area south of Montenegro between Bar and Ulcinj. Montenegro has 6 marinas along the coastline Herceg Novi, Kotor, Tivat, Budva, Bar and Ulcinj and several small marinas can be also found.

-- Yachting and sailing in Montenegro -- You should expect to be intercepted by naval craft patrolling the area. VHF Channel 16 should be monitored permanently and, if contacted by a naval vessel, the GPS/Radio operator of the yacht has to to give the following information:

• Name of Yacht.


• International


• Callsign Flag


• Port of Registration


• Last Port of call


• Destination

• The boat registration


• Crusing permition


• Insurance documents


• Sometimes the name of the owner and the general description of the cargo is requested.

Yachts must purchase a cruising permit, valid for one year or one month. The cruising permition can be paid at the “Port of Entry” by Cash or Credit Card.

• 65.00 to 90.00 € per month/li>
  
• 100 to 130€ per year, dependend in the length of the boat / yacht.


• There is also a fee for clearance and formalities are reported to be straightforward.

-- Diving at Montenegro coast --

• To dive in Montenegro you need to have an international diving card and a permission for Montenegro. You can get the permission in the port Bar. The permission valid for the whole year and it costs just 15 € per person. Foreigner divers need a lead diver from Montenegro as a guide.


• Very interesting diving locations is Ulcinj. One ship "Adria” sinked in the beginning of XIX century. It' s arround on a depth of 14-18 meter. There is another one who was named "Forvest” on a depth of 18-28 meters.


• On the depth of only 2-3m you can see the fragments of an old town from Roman age!
